Wellness Wednesday

It's time to sleep!

Hello from the salty Maine coast. Here are a few things about sleep.

Here we are on the last day of November 2022. The days are short and the nights are long for a reason. It's time to sleep more. Sleeping helps you to heal as it reduces stress and improved your mood.

More sleep helps us to stay healthy and deflect colds and flues. It also helps us to maintain our ideal weight. (Which can be helpful if we are indulging in excessive holiday eating ).

More sleep helps to lower the risk for serious health problems, like diabetes and heart disease.

And it allows us to think more clearly and do better in school and at work.

Best of all, more sleep allows us to get along better with people. Which could be the secret ingredient in meeting with family over the holidays.

So for the next four weeks until Dec 21 when the winter solstice arrives and the days begin to get a tiny bit longer …use the darkness to your benefit and sleep.

Feeling holiday stress? Take a 20-minute power nap, or go to bed early. Manage your day to take time to rest.

Book a discovery call if you need to talk and go into the feelings that may be arising for you this year.

Blue Hill Healing Holiday Gift Certificates are available for yourself, friends and family. Save when you purchase a package of 6 massages for $744.

Best food to help move through these dark days of autumn.

Soups & Congee

We are all familiar with soup, and there are hundreds of delicious, simple recipes to make. feel into what your body is craving for today and make a pot of soup.

Congee is a porridge usually made with rice, lots of broth or liquid, and veggies or herbs. Here is a simple congee recipe.

It is easy to make, adds hydration to the body, nourishes and fills up the belly and the whole family can enjoy a simple hot meal.

Remember to Breathe! Keep your breath going. If you forgot take a look here, at the simple technique I gave you last week.

Hydration is key!

Keeping hydrated is an important part of staying healthy. Water promotes cardiovascular health, keeps your body cool, helps muscles and joints work better, and keeps skin supple.

Here is this week’s hydration recipe:

Cucumber Water

Ingredients:

Cucumbers & Water

Instructions:

Slice a cucumber into a pitcher of water, let it sit a bit, and drink as much as you like.

I am now offering a sound journey in my massage sessions using the spirit of the Andean rattle. A great way to let go of the mind and allow the body to receive.

I am also experimenting with a few Hot Rocks to warm you up and allow more heat to penetrate through your muscles.
