Wellness Wednesday

We are almost halfway through 2023 and the days seem to pass swiftly. Now is a good time to pause and reflect. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so let's make sure we recognize a difficult truth: Nearly one in five Americans lives with a mental health condition, according to the National Institute of Mental Health.

These include any mental, behavioral, or emotional disorder such as:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Mood disorders, including bipolar disorder

  • Personality disorders

  • Psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia

  • Trauma

  • Eating disorders

  • Substance-use disorders

The good news...Massage can lower stress levels and feelings of anxiety.

It can improve mood and relaxation while increasing confidence and self-image.

If you experience depression or anxiety or are just overloaded with extra stress, massage can be an effective part of your treatment.

Last week I worked with a client who had no idea she was holding on to so much stress in her body due to some emotional issues she was going through.

The bodywork helped her to feel the feelings she was holding onto and she became aware of how these emotions were affecting her physically.

Catching a glimpse of the power of the body and the way we hold onto past emotions and how they manifest into pain and anxiety is one of the benefits of receiving massage therapy.

We may only need a slight nudge, in a safe space to wake up and take notice of what is really going on in our lives.

Massage therapy can be this nudge. It can help illuminate the dark places that feel overwhelmed, stuck, or painful, and by bringing light into a place we create a space for healing.

This month I am offering a special Mother’s Day massage gift certificate for $10. off the price of a massage. You can buy one for yourself, for a friend or for your mom. Buy in May to receive the discount and use it any time in 2023.

Sending love, light & peace,

Christina
